About Me
Andrew Archer, MD
As a board-certified psychiatrist with training in both general adult and geriatric psychiatry, I operate under the core philosophy that every patient is unique. My practice is built upon fostering a robust therapeutic alliance, ensuring that you remain an involved participant in all medical decisions regarding your care. I approach every interaction with a compassionate and understanding ear, prioritizing a deep comprehension of your specific symptoms and concerns. By treating each individual within the context of the whole person, we can work together effectively to achieve your health goals.
My educational background includes obtaining both my undergraduate and medical degrees at Texas A&M University. I completed my general psychiatry residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital, where I had the honor of serving as chief resident. Following my residency, I completed a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). I am board certified in adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience treating a wide range of mental health conditions across diverse populations. My professional duties have spanned various settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient psychiatric units, emergency rooms, state hospitals, nursing homes, and courts. I am an active member of the APA, NCPA, and AGLP. Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy swimming, backpacking, volunteering, and exploring the Bay Area with my rescue dog, Beebee.
